Section 12- Anaylsis of completed Thriller

DETAILED ANAYLSIS...
The overall theme of our Thriller was to create a tense atmosphere and show this through the idea of real life situations. We wanted to create the meaning of youth and the idea of the female character being prone to murderers and always being the victim. The character we used helped us to show this to our chosen audience, we wanted our character to be young, feminine and attractive, this way we could symbolise innocence and venerability. The fact that the character was alone throughout the opening also gave the audience the impression that something was going to happen to her. The use of the trains and the setting was just to create the image of real life, we didn't want our opening anything out of the ordinary because that way it wouldn't be as believable and true to the criteria of our Thriller plan. At the beginning and the end of our Thriller it repeated the trains going at a very fast speed past the tracks, this symbolises how quickly things can change and the dangers that are in the outside world, this is the meaning for it and this is the type of thing we wanted to portray to our intended target audience. The use of sound, we had no dialogue in our Thriller, we did this for various reasons. The main character was alone so she actually had no one to talk to but we wanted to create the idea of isolation and that the character was different from everyone else- we got this from the inspiration of Jaws, and the fact that the first victim was isolated from the rest of the group.  We also had background music that built up and created this eerie and tense atmosphere to the audience, as if they knew that something out of the ordinary and unexpected was going to happen. The use of sound was really effective, you could sometimes hear the trains going past but mostly the background music was the only thing that you could hear.
Once we had past the filming part of the project, we began to edit, adding in sound, special effects that we wanted to make our film to the best of our ability. When we were looking through the different effects, we found one that was called 'Ghosting'. Some of our camera angles were of the 'victim' being followed, the ghosting effect we used made the camera seem blurry as if someone was carrying it and following her. This looked really effective once it had all been put together.
